Namaste,

During my last visit in Nepal, I met two children collecting garbage next to a school. With an intention of getting to know them, I went to speak to them and learnt about their interest in education. So, confidently one of them said, "yea, sure, studying can be hard but so is collecting bottles for food". I ended up making a deal with them.

The deal was to come back to Nepal, find them, and give them an opportunity to go to school. I believe that’s when my visit took a turn.

My name is Amit Bidhyarthi and this journey back to my hometown is a baby-step to something called Education for SHE (Street, Homeless & Economically underprivileged children) in Butwal, Nepal.

The wild dream of working on education for children who simply cannot afford this “privilege” has been a gradually evolving process with the above mentioned incident being an amazing turn of event.

I am currently doing my Master's degree in Peace, Mediation and Conflict research programme at Åbo Akademi University in Vaasa, Finland. I have also recently completed a teaching practice at a primary school in Vaasa (Övningsskola).

The shortest possible explanation for why I am raising fund is to work on education for the children who can not afford it and to introduce and develop a course that deals with peace and conflict (Peace education) in a curriculum of few schools for primary school and above.

For more detail about the journey and project please visit my blog or please write me an email.

Thank you very much.

Additional info: Even though the "donation" asks for Credit card information, all kinds of payment cards such as Debit card work too.

  • I Found Him.

    I found him.
Badal is one of the two boys (another one's name is Ajay) who I had met in front of a school last year. A conversation with them had led me to "kind of" make a promise which was to give them an opportunity to go to school.
Since my arrival in Butwal (18th of August), I have met more kids like Badal. I asked around and was told that there are around 50 kids like themselves.
I am glad to have met him again. With his head high on glue he gave his words to meet me tomorrow at 7 (after 7 hours and 14 minutes from the time of writing this) in the town. Frankly, I have no concrete plans on what do I do with him. But I have to start from somewhere.
