Send Emily to Help Children in Costa Rica!
My Travel Story
I have always had an interest in childcare, and I love kids. Being able to travel to Costa Rica to spend time meaningfully assisting a childcare program would be an amazing dream to hsve come true. Not only would I be able to learn about the culture of the people that live in Costa Rica, I would also be able to gain perspective and insight on the lives of the children I would be working with. Traveling and helping others has always been a passion of mine, and I chose Costa Rica because of how beautiful the enviornment is, and all of the wonderful things I've heard about the culture in Costa Rica.
This is a meaningful trip to me as I start my senior year of highschool in the Fall, and I would love to carry what I learn from this experience into my Senior year. I will be excited to share photos of my adventure on Instagram!
The program description states that "Overcrowded classrooms in low-income parts of Costa Rica mean students often only attend school in either the morning or afternoon and are generally left to their own devices for the rest of the day. Community centers aim to fill this gap with further education and games so that children have a safe, stimulating and structured learning environment for a longer period of time. This gives children the opportunity to build skills and support networks and increase their chances of continuing education to later gain employment."
