My Travel Story

by: Brittany Vernon Start Date: Dec 16, 2013 - End Date: Apr 14, 2014
I believe it is important for a teacher to explore! In my classroom, there will be children from all different backgrounds. It is absolutely vital that teachers know how to interact with ALL of their students. To study abroad in the Netherlands would be ideal. I plan to become an elementary teacher and I think this will enhance my teaching abilities for the future. I am the first of my family to go abroad for something that I want to do for the rest of my life. This dream of mine to see the world can start in Spring 2014, I will not only be setting the path for myself to see the rest of the world, but my younger siblings and cousins. Not to mention, when I start my own family some day, this will be a story worth telling that will influence them to study abroad as I once did! I'd love to see how the school system in the Netherlands function, because I do want to become a principal one day and hopefully implement some ideas from around the world. In all, this is an opportunity of a lifetime that I know I have to grab while I have the chance. And although it may seem scary to step outside the comfort zone of Michigan, I know this trip to the Netherlands will be a start to something amazing!
