My Travel Story

by: Kayla Liles Start Date: Jan 21, 2015 - End Date: Apr 30, 2015
There are not enough words to describe how meaningful this travel experience would be. My dream is to work with Marine Life, all day, everyday. To be honest, when I was 12, I was diganosed with an immune disorder, and with that being said I wanted to be a pediatric doctor. However 6 months ago, I was in horrible condition and I stayed in the hospital so long that I didnt want to work or see another hospital again. My family asked me the day I got out of the hospital " If you could do one thing for the rest of your life, and money wasn't an issue, what would you do?" With an eager response I immediately chose working with dolphins. I went back to school this last fall with a hope of fulfilling my dreams. However, I'm no where near the coast for any type of Marine Biology major. I will be graduating with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry, but there is nothing to set myself apart from the other students wanting to be a Marine Biologist. This is my one chance at showing future graduate schools that I know what my skill sets are. This internship would be a chance for me to spend about 6 weeks in Hawaii, and work with a Marine Biologist. I will be able to learn about all marine life, coral reefs, ecosystems, DOLPHINS,etc. This is my dream, and right now it's still a dream. I'm not trying to suck you in with a sappy sick girl story, but this one is true. It took me two years into college, and months in the hospital to realize that you only have one life. I want to spend the rest of my life with the dolphins, and to make that dream come true, I need your help. Thank you so much for even reading this, and thank you for the support.
