Hi, my name is Priya and at the end of 2018, I am travelling to Borneo for a school expedition with Antipodeans Abroad. By participating in this trip I am expected to raise the majority of the funds required myself. I am using this campaign as well as working part time to do so. The most important factor of this trip for me is the community project. I will also engage in a trek and backpacking exploration. From this trip, I'm not only hoping to gain leadership experience  and become more respobsible for myself, but I want to use my good fortune as an Australian to help those who need it most. I will be put in a group with other girls from my school where we will lead our expedition as well as, choose how we intend on helping the community. This trip is very important to me because a major dream and aspiration of mine is to help others.

The community project involves building a sustainable project for the local Borneo community. My fellow students and I will choose and plan how we want to give back to the community with a project such as, a gravitational water pump or renovating school buildings. Although this may be a small contribution, my hope and belief is that it is one step closer to ending the cycle of poverty in countries such as Borneo.

The experiences that I will gain from this trip will assist me in developing further independence and it will open up more opportunities for leadership. Through experiencing the country first-hand, I will be more appreciative of the many opportunities and privileges we have in Australia. I am hoping that through the community project, I can contribute to a better future for communities who live in poverty in Borneo.
