My Travel Story

My name is Sky Lott. I am a junior journalism major, African
American studies minor at Kentucky State University. I have been delving
into my journalism studies for the past few semesters and I have taken an
interest in travel writing.

Since I was young, I had always been curious about what the
world had to offer. To travel to the great lands of Africa, view the Great Wall of China or see the Eiffel tower would be so fulfilling. Not only spiritually but physically and mentally as well. During my college career I have set milestones and goals and planning an abroad trip is one of them. I am at this milestones with some steps left to reach the finish line.

I have been awarded the opportunity to travel and study travel writing with a program called Semester at Sea. On this voyage we will travel across the world to countries such as Italy,Greece and Morroco while taking classes on topics such as travel writing and thinking globally. On this voyage I hope to network with the other students studying abroad as well as with people all over the world.

Not only will I be accomplishing a goal of mine but I will also be investing in a future career. As I am becoming more diverse in my studies, I am hoping traveling abroad will make me versatile and marketable for when I go search for an internship next semester. Ultimately, besides my education I am hoping to become a global-minded citizen.

At this moment I am raising funds to invest in my deposit
for my cabin on the trip as well as my passport. From there I will be able to fund my trip through my further through scholarships provided by Semester at sea and with support for my university.
