Currently in Costa Rica and Need Urgent Help
My Travel Story
I moved to Costa Rica recently to try to reset my life and build something more sustainable for myself. I came here with intention and a plan, but financially things fell apart faster than I expected before anything had time to stabilize.
Right now my bank account is completely empty. I haven’t had money in it for over two weeks, and my rent is due on the 8th. At the moment, I don’t have the funds to cover it.
I’ve been doing what I can to get by. I’m genuinely grateful that the land here provides food. I’ve been surviving off coconuts, green bananas, and whatever fruit I can find around town. It’s kept me going, but it also shows how thin things are right now.
On top of rent, I have a monthly bill tied to a loan that’s now over 30 days past due. If it isn’t paid soon, any money that hits my bank account will automatically be taken to cover that balance, which means I wouldn’t actually be able to use incoming funds at all. I also have a cell phone bill coming up, which I need in order to keep working, applying for jobs, and staying connected.
I’ve been actively trying to create income. I’m working on getting personal training clients, building online programs, and looking for remote work. I’ve put real effort into it, but nothing has fully kicked off yet. I also tried doing some trading to get through this stretch, and instead I lost the rest of what I had.
Also, my girlfriend who is a local works at a Non-profit school for girls. Her and and her family are starting a boy's version of the school and want me to be the lead teacher. They already have the funding and said they will have a salary position for me, but this has not started yet. They want to launch sometime this year. So I want to be able to stay here for this as well. It's just going to take a little time.
I didn’t go home for Christmas or the holidays. I stayed here trying to figure things out and keep moving forward. My family isn’t willing to help financially because they don’t agree with my decision to move out of the country, so I’m navigating this on my own.
I’m sharing this because I genuinely need help right now. Anything given would go toward rent, keeping my phone on, and basic necessities while I continue trying to get stable and get income coming in.
