Scarlett's Volunteer Trip to Bali
My Travel Story
I will be working with local schools throughout the Ubud area, actively teaching the importance of basic hygiene and general health. Topics can include brushing teeth correctly, washing hands, learning about illness, the body system, general body cleanliness and nutrition. Many of our daily routines that we carry out without thinking are not common practice with the local children but starting simple education early can go a long way for immediate and future health.
I hope to make a real impact and contribute towards long term goals of the local community. Personally, I hope to gain some important skills which will help me as I start my university degree and throughout my chosen career in medicine. (hopefully).
I have always enjoyed working with children. Past work experience at a Speech & Language Therapy Clinic, gave me an insight into the impact my time and energy can have and I want to continue to do this and help the children in Bali.
I really wanted to travel in my gap year and felt combining a trip with volunteering would be the most beneficial use of my time. Bali seemed like a beautifully cultured place to visit.
