I was still learning to crawl when my mother had to leave everything behind and start a new life due to the civil war that broke out in 1991. My mother carried me and my brother across several continents until she decided that the UK was somewhere we could have a great education and become whoever we wanted to be. Unfortunately, not everyone was able to have the same opportunity as my family and this has been evident every time I visit my home country.

I am now 24. Due to my mother’s sacrifice and bravery I am now able to go to Tanzania and help other young people understand that they can be whoever they want to be and it can be done from where they are. I want to stimulate young minds and in turn spark conversations and ideas about what they want to accomplish when they are older.
