My Travel Story

Hi everyone! 

Thank you for checking out my campaign :) I truly appreciate everyone who has considered funding my dream of going to Africa to volunteer.

I have now organised to do two volunteer programmes. One in Zimbabwe, and a second programme in South Africa. I have raised enough money for my flights, but I need a little help to pay for the fees of the volunteer programmes.

About the programmes...
In Zimbabwe I will be working with two charities Africa Impact and Alert. Monday - Friday I will help at a local children’s orphanage, where I will feed, clean, teach and play with the children staying at the orphanage. I will also help provide food and education to the local street children that can’t stay at the orphanage, teaching them life skills that will help to better their future.
During the weekends I will work with ALERT, a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of the African Lion. In an attempt to offset the rapid decline of lion populations, ALERT have instigated a 4-stage Lion Rehabilitation Programme that aims to release cubs of captive bred lions into appropriate national parks and reserves across Africa as self-sustaining wild animals.           

In South Africa I will be working with 5 different animals charities including working with elephants, monkeys, cheetahs, wild birds and game. The program incorporates wild, rescued and rehabilitated animals and aims to improve their living and environmental conditions, as well as teach the local community about the importance of the animals and how to look after them.

* I am also doing a 24 hour famine on Christmas Day to help raise awareness and funds for my volunteer trip. Anyone who knows me will know how hard it will be for me not to eat for 24 hours, especially on Christmas Day! Please help me by sponsoring me.

  • Just Over A Month Until I Arrive In Africa To Start My Volunteer Project

    Thank you to everyone who has donated to help me to make a difference to the lives of orphaned children and wildlife in Africa! I cant believe my trip is so close now, just over a month and I will land in Zimbabwe.

  • I Have Reached My Target And Now I Can Also Sponsor A Child With The Money I Have Raised!

    With the help of my amazing friends and family and even strangers I have managed to reach my target of raising $3,000. I did promise that if I reach my goal than I would sponsor a child through the amazing St Jude's school, which provides free education for the poorest and brightest children in Africa. Thanks to you I have now set up my sponsorship for a childs education, THANK YOU!
