Support my dream : Korea & USA travel quest !
My Travel Story
Hi there!
I'm thrilled to share my upcoming journey with you. I was born in France to Korean parents who moved there. Growing up, I was given a French name, Marc (why not known you may ask ? For better integration of course), and while I've enjoyed the perks of living in Europe, like easy access to traveling, I've always felt a bit disconnected from my roots. Despite my Korean heritage (especially kimchi), I don't speak the language fluently and haven't fully experienced Korean culture yet. During my visits to Korea, I've often felt like an outsider, not quite fitting in despite my appearance.
I find myself caught between two worlds, not fully belonging to either. I'm French, but I'm also Korean (or Korean but I'm also french ? lol), and this duality has left me searching for a sense of identity and belonging. I long to bridge this gap and find a place where I can embrace both sides of my heritage without feeling like I have to choose one over the other. On the other hand, probably to escape myself from reality, I've always looked up to the US, a melting pot of cultures and opportunities. Yet, I've never had the chance to experience it firsthand, shame right ?
But it's ok ! Who knows, I'll never come back from the us to France ! In South Korea, I'll spend two months immersing myself in the country. I'll start by attending one of my best friend's wedding, I'm so excited to go (especially for the food lol). I'll also visit family members and friends, celebrating Christmas and New Year's Eve in true Korean style (I don't drink nor smoke, that's going to be quite the experience, I'm saying this because Korean parties often includes a lot of drinking games lol)
Currently taking some korean classes, I hope to say 5 words instead of 2 and connect with locals at least enough to make new friends (or at least be polite). I plan to join local football groups to play soccer with Koreans (wish me luck). I also want to visit various churches and join their weekly meetings.
After my time in Korea, I'll embark on a three-month journey in USA, a country that has always fascinated me (don't know why actually). I remember once when I asked my father why he didn't choose America instead of France when given the opportunity to move out. I think I've always seen America as a place where I could be accepted for who I am.
Upon arrival in the US, I hope to buy a car and drive around California. Visiting Bethel Church and other churches, which I've heard so much about, will be a significant part of this journey. I'll attend seminars, including one in February, to learn and network with people who share my interests (you're also invited !). I plan to join as many groups as possible, from prayer and worship groups to sports and community meetings (create as many opportunities as possible right?)
This journey is not just about exploring the physical world but also about deepening my spiritual experiences. Since becoming a Christian in 2018, I've been curious about how Christianity is practiced around the world. There are so many different ways, you'd be surprised.
Throughout my travels, I'll share my journey on Instagram. While I'm not particularly tech-savvy and prefer to enjoy life's moments without a phone in hand, I'll do my best to share updates and insights from my adventure.
This journey promises to be transformative for sure. Traveling across south Korea and the US will challenge me, offering new perspectives and experiences that will help me maybe find myself. I hope to return home with a refreshed outlook on life, enriched by the people I meet and the adventures I undertake. However, I need your support to make this dream a reality. The costs of travel, accommodation, and transportation are beyond my current means. Your contributions will help me embark on this life-changing journey.
Thank you for considering supporting my campaign. With your help, I can make this dream come true and return with stories and lessons that will last a lifetime (or just with a lot of Korean and American snacks)
