My Travel Story

by: Gloria Anyika Start Date: May 8, 2020 - End Date: Sep 7, 2020
I see my participation in the German BFD (Bundesfreiwilligendienst) voluntary program as an opportunity to sustain my Christian values of enhancing the wellbeing and quality of life of individuals who were impacted by social disadvantages. During my 12 months’ voluntary service that is scheduled to begin on 1st September 2020, I will be placed at Lebenshilfe fur Menschen mit Behinderungen, an organization that seeks to improve integration of people living with disabilities in Germany’s education and employment sectors through provision of knowledge, skills and care services. As a BFD volunteer, I will be granted with a platform to utilize my knowledge, skills and expertise in worthwhile social causes and care service for holistic transformation of human needs of body, mind and spirit. I found this to be a significant prospect of growing my ability to influence through learning best practices that Germany applies in their social change systems for people living with disabilities.
