Ever since I was a little girl, my future career path was clear. I was determined to be a teacher. From a young age, I understood the value of education and the difference that it can make in a person’s life, something I learned from my mother. She has made extraordinary sacrifices to make sure that I have the opportunity to pursue an education, so I want to seize the opportunity to intern in Buenos Aires, Argentina this summer, not only to expand my cultural horizons, but also to impact our world in a positive way.

I am truly passionate about the environment. My ultimate career goal is to work with a company as a sustainability consultant and to later on become a Chief Sustainability Officer. This career focuses on teaching corporations how to conduct their business in a sustainable manner without compromising the quality of their work. This internship will allow me to gain this necessary work experience, build leadership skills, and learn about the numerous ways that a business can run sustainably.

I’ve had the opportunity to serve my own community for the past two years, so I now want to utilize the skills I’ve learned and bring them to a completely new environment to flourish. I am currently the Student Outreach Committee Chair for the Undergraduate Dean’s Council, the Service Committee Chair for the Undergraduate Success Scholars, and a mentor for the BSBA Peer Leadership Mentoring Program. I also work as a student employee for the Student Organization Center, where I get to interact with the student leaders of the 300+ organizations on campus. Recently, I was acknowledged by my peers and professors for being involved on campus by receiving an “OWLIE” award for JSOM Undergraduate Student Brand Ambassador. This award serves to recognize an individual who positively contributes to the growth of the JSOM brand both inside and outside the school, and I hope to uphold this honor with my contributions to Argentina this summer.

To raise money for this trip, I took on another part time job; however, I fear that despite all of my efforts to raise money for this internship, it has not been enough to cover my expenses. I am eager to share my journey with UT Dallas as I go through this life changing experience and hope to make our university proud as I embark on the adventure of a life time.

Any and every donation is greatly appreciated and will help ease the tension of living abroad for the first time.
Thank you
Sara :)
