Teaching English in Rural egypt!
My Travel Story
I'm asked to say how I will make a difference in the community.
Frankly, I don't know.
All of my ideas are just hopes and dreams and I don't know what the future holds for the kids I'd like to help.
For some reason, Egyptian kids/teens are not "categorized" as help needing people.
They are not seen as starving. However, the vast majority of them is.
The fact that they need simple things to make them happy does not mean they don't have issues and what I wan't to do is to empower them as much as I can.
I'd love to teach them English over the summer (for the next two summers) or at least give them the basics - potentially enrolling and helping teens to take Official language certifications so that they can have something to try and improve their careers. It's definitely not much but It's the only thing I can do now and, Once there, I'd love to see what I can do.
My father is egyptian and I've sent all of my summers with my relatives not appreciating my luck . It was only last year that I decided i wanted to make a difference. As clichè as it might sound!
Again, It's not much - and while i can sustain the costs of living in rural Ras Sudr, I cannot guarantee I can live the whole summer (possibly extending until Christmas) and pay for the students wellbeing, a place to study and learn, food, enrolling in language certifications and well.. whatever I can do for them - as blunt as it may sound and as simple as it may be!
Honesty is the key and this is it..if you trust me!
Thank you!!
