Dearest friends, family, and fans,

Hi! For those of you who don't know me, my name is Emery Hurst. For those of you who do know me, my name is still Emery. I was born and raised on the beaches and bays of Ocean City, NJ. From sailing, to swimming, to boating and water sports, you can always find me on the water! I am currently a junior at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA. There, I dual major in Clinical Psychology and Autism Behavioral Studies. On campus, you can find me working at The Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support, on the field playing club lacrosse, or attending philanthropic events as a sister of Alpha Gamma Delta. Off campus, you can find me trying new restaurants around Philly and spending time outside! My leadership roles on campus include the Vice President of the Best Buddies chapter at SJU, Executive Director of Marketing for the Make a Wish Foundation SJU chapter, and a leader for the Philadelphia Service Immersion Program.

It is time to make my dreams come true... It is with a full heart that I announce that I will be participating in the Spring 2022 voyage of Semester at Sea! My journey will begin on January 5, when I embark in Italy, and after 106 days, 13 countries, and 13 cities, I will arrive in Germany to disembark on the 20th of April.

My Semester at Sea voyage will ultimately help me find myself. It will allow me to visit new places, experience new cultures, and force me out of the comfort-zone that I have been afforded my whole life. This journey will allow me to flourish and discover myself, and gain a new, more educated perspective about other cultures and immerse myself with those who come from other places. I hope to gain new insights to be able to fully understand and respect those who are different from me. I expect this voyage will affect the path of the rest of my life in the best way imaginable, and assume in ways I cannot yet comprehend.

In order to make this opportunity of a lifetime into my reality, fundraising is a must. Along with applying for scholarships and recieving a job opportunity as a student assistant, I have set up this page to not only fundraise, but explain what Semester at Sea is and why I am blessed to have such an opportunity.
