My Travel Story

I will be travelling to Sri Lanka, Colombo on the 27th of August for five weeks, to complete a Mental Health Psychology Placement with SLV Global. I am fortunate to be staying with in a Sri Lankan family who will provide me with accomadation and food during the week. And during the weekends, I will be exploring Sri Lanka and I have to provide my own accomadation and food.
I have paid the cost of £2000 myself to pay for the course fee and the flights to Sri Lanka. I have set up this funding page to help with other extra costs.

During the week I will be working along side Service users in a Psychiatric Unit and in a Mental Health Care Home, I will be working with children with special needs and I will also be teaching english to children and adults.

I am extremely humbled and excited to have the opportunity to volunteer with SLV global to offer what help, knowledge and skills I have in hope to continue to push for positive change and to break the taboo and stigma around 'Mental Health'. I hope to learn from the people I will meet in Sri Lanka too, and to explore their way of life and their approach to Mental Health.

Any small donations would be hugely appreciated. This will help me towards the costs of the the materials (such as arts and crafts) that I will be buying to take for the children and service users over in Sri Lanka to aid theraputic workshops. I am happy to provide more information to those who would like to know a bit more about what I will be doing in Sri Lanka. And I will be posting photos and updates on what it is like once I'm out there, to those who wish to donate. Even a penny will go a long way.
