My Travel Story

Hello :) I'm Macie, a Film & Media Arts major at the University of Utah. Being able to afford this study abroad program would competely change the course of my future film career. I am extremely passionate about the opportunity to create, and I know that this course will give me the tools and knowledge I need to be able to lose myself in my creative abilities and really reach an audience emotionally. I want to be able to elicit emotions, to make people think, to make people appreciate and love more. I am head over heels for Italian filmmaking, and to study the works of famous creators in a country that's encased in art would mean more than the world to me.
     The short film I would be devoting my time and energy to would be called "i feel i have to run". The title is a reference to a journal entry written by Sylvia Plath. The film is about a mother and daughter, Clementine & Ada, who struggle to communicate their emotions, and find a way to do so through exchanged books and poems. Both women struggle with Attention Deficit Disorder, and especially with grasping the reality of passing such disorders down to your children and having to watch whem suffer through what you did. It is a deep dive into motherhood, girlhood, and what unintentional selfishness can do to your relationships. We follow the story through Ada's eyes, and witness what it is like to grow up, grow old, flourish with creativity, suffer with passion, and grant forgiveness.
     I would be so unspeakably grateful if anyone were to aid me in any way with this ambition. I will undoubtedly credit you as an executive producer on the film for helping to finance it. Again, thank you so much :') I would never have the chance to do any of this without help.
