My Travel Story

Hello, my name is Rebecca, and I am a Biomedical Science student at Arizona State University with the goal of entering the medical field in the future.
In Fall 2026, I will be studying abroad in Milan, Italy for 12 weeks through my university.During this time, I will complete two blocks of coursework toward my degree while continuing my focus on a certificate in hospice and palliative care.

I chose Milan because I want to immerse myself in a new culture while learning in a global environment that values innovation, history, and community. This experience is not just about studying in a different country. It is about expanding my perspective and developing a deeper understanding of how to care for others in a diverse world.

My goal is to become a healthcare provider who is both compassionate and culturally aware, especially in women's healthcare and when working with Native American and minority populations. Through my work in a dementia care unit, I have learned how important it is for patients to feel heard and understood, and I plan to carry that with me throughout my career.

By studying abroad, I am confident that I will grow not only as a student, but also as a future provider. Exposure to new cultures and perspectives will help me better connect with patients and prepare me for a field that requires empathy, trust, and understanding.
