Study Abroad Scholarship for a foreign country is one of the most important experiences today’s students will have. Not only does studying abroad allow for great personal growth by changing perspective and appealing tolerance for different cultures and peoples, studying abroad provides students with the necessary skills to be competent global citizens in the 21st century.

Coming from a family that has spoken English as a second language I know that it is very difficult to try and learn a language unless you’re fully submerged in it. I myself was never able to learn more than a phrase or two in Polish because as my mom grew older she wasn’t taught how to speak the language as her grandmother spent more and more time in America and started to lose the language due to not having anyone to speak the language with. I believe language is a key to understand the culture in which you’re trying to represent and when trying to learn a different language being surrounded by it shows you the true culture in all its beautiful forms.

For someone like me who is in a field of study that requires me to work personally with people I believe it would be a very beneficial experience to be given the chance to experience a different culture other than my own especially since it makes up so much of the melting pot of cultures that we have here in America. I started paying for school out of pocket by myself last year due to financial situations within my parent’s lives.  So I have only been able to take the amount of classes in which I could afford with the money I save from working full time and its making my graduation date further away than I would like. I’m okay with that because life isn’t perfect but it would give me an opportunity that I myself couldn’t afford  because I cannot depend on my parents for my day to day necessities and college tuition. It would allow me to experience a different part of the world and a different culture that I wouldn’t get to see at this time in my life.

Having help paying for it would give me the chance to tell my parents that I am able to go on such an amazing trip for school and they wouldn’t have to worry about how on earth they would have to try and contribute any money towards it which I know would make both my mom and dad truly happy!
