My Travel Story

You may recall that this fundraising campaign had previously focused on a job I had received in Incheon, South Korea. Due to some difficulties in the process, my gut told me it wasn't the job for me, and undeterred, I chose to consider alternate destinations to pursue my passion for teaching English, with little regard to how accessible pro wrestling was. If you know me, you know that where I am, those two passions are bundled close to me. But teaching has always been my priority. Yesterday, I received the news I have spent years dreaming of: I was offered a contract to teach in Japan. 

In 2019, I was on my way to Japan when, with two months until my departure, the world descended into chaos with the uncertainty ushered in by the pandemic. And eventually, life had to go on. I've tried to find my way back to the country I consider my home away from home, a country that allowed me to experience the world and get to know myself in an entirely new way than my sheltered Indiana life had. Fortunately, each supposed setback has allowed me to grow and nurture my skills. I worked in an art museum, at a zoo, in the American education system. I had my photography published in Pro Wrestling Illustrated and now I'm on its staff as a contributing writer, sharing my passion for pro wrestling with readers all around the world. Returning to Japan feels like continuing the next leg of the journey, and with all of the skills I've acquired and practice and my past experiences from living in Japan, I am so excited for all the possibilities life has for me.
