Unfortunately, my plans of going to New Zealand are now unattainable because the prices were raised by $1000. But no worries because another amazing journey awaits :)
This summer I am hoping to go on an adventure of a lifetime. Through a program called Pacific Discovery, I will be traveling with a group of 11 other students and a trip leader through out the country of Thailand for four weeks. Pacific Discovery has exactly what I'm looking for in an overseas experience; volunteer work, outdoor adventure, and beautiful nature. 

Some of the program highlights include:
1. Volunteering with elephants for a week at the award-winning Elephant Nature Foundation
2. 2-day rock-climbing and caving adventure – no experience needed
3. Hiking and kayaking in the amazing jungle of Khao Sok National Park
4. Exploring spectacular Kho Phra Ngan island
5. 2 introductory scuba dives off Kho Phra Ngan
6. Historical Sukhothai and its superb temples and monuments
7. Thailand’s kaleidoscopic markets and temples
8. Thai cooking course
9. Yoga classes
10. Muay Thai (Thai martial art) class
11. Overnight Buddhist meditation retreat run by Thai monks
12. Informal lectures and discussions on history, culture, society and environment

Traveling is truly a dream of mine. The fact the first step has been made possible by a generous donor means the world to me! I can't do it without your help! I am not expecting to raise the entire $5,500 but the price is there to give you an idea of the expenses. Believe me, I will be working my butt off next semester to pay for the rest!
