My Travel Story

by: Molly Riddick Start Date: Nov 5, 2015 - End Date: Feb 2, 2016
Anyone who knows me knows how much I love food. More than just silly hobbies or laborious necessities, cooking and baking are part of who I am. Being the food lover that I am, I consider myself ridiculously lucky to be able to spend a semester of my college experiences in the culinary mecca that is Italy (more specifically Florence). Just thinking of all the real Italian food I'll be able to experience makes me ready to jump ahead to January when my adventure can begin! I would be foolish to think that I could possibly make it to all of my desired food cities while I'm abroad, but I'm going to aim high until I get closer to the day I can set an itinerary and calm myself. Many of these cities are close enough that I can dedicate weekend trips to their discoveries. While I am at school in Florence, Rome and Pisa will be no further from me then as Raleigh is from Kinston now, but other trips will be much larger affairs. My goal is to be able to make it on at least two of these larger expeditions and make my way around the country I'll be calling home. Of course, food is expensive, as are even the cheapest of plane tickets, Eurail passes, and hostel stays. That is why I am asking for your help. For everyone who donates, I will be sending out a copy of my itinerary (once I figure it out) and will send you a post card and a copy of the food entry I'll make in my journal from the city of your choice (and some Christmas cookies if you're lucky!) I'll also be taking challenges for the weirder dishes I'll try abroad! Once my journey begins, I'll be trying to update the blog below weekly, so follow along! In advance, I send you all tons of love and gratitude for helping me fulfill this enormous dream and satisfy the voracious foodie at my core.
