Hello, my name is Joi Chatman and I am a teacher in Cypress TX. I am so excited to announce that I have received an amazing opportunity to share the rich professional development experience that I have received within my district with other teachers just like me in Ghana.  This expedition is set to occur in June 2018.

I have been invited to participate in the LRTT fellowship this summer. The LRTT fellowship goal is to ensure that all children have access to a quality education regardless of their socio-economic status. In order to ensure the quality of education the organization is commited to providing professional development for educators in high need countries in order to benefit the children in these areas.

In Ghana, 98% of primary school students are unable to read and comprehend information, and only 58% of all primary school students make it to secondary school. This means that more than half of the population are uneducated and thus at a great disadvantage. LRTT has built a team of 140 teacher fellows which will be split into 8 teacher training teams in 7 countries across 3 continents as part of 1 global movement. Together we will equip over 1,500 teachers with limited resources and limited training to achieve great outcomes for over 75,000 children!

I am so honored to have the opportunity to volunteer my services and learn from many others during this journey. I can not wait to learn more and grow from this experience.
