My Travel Story
As you will know, mental health is such an essential factor in people's lives which influences us throughout. Therefore, I chose to volunteer in this placement abroad to hopefully help aid the wellbeing of others, as they do not have a national health service or the necessary funds to support their mental health sector. Also, as a current psychology student at the University of Birmingham, this experience will be fantastic for me to develop some incredible skills necessary for the field I hope to go into in the future.
The one-month placement consists of training, hands-on work experience, and organising interactive sessions with other fellow volunteers. This will include facilitating therapeutic activities at psychiatric hospitals, developing sessions for children with specific needs, working with the elderly and teaching English to children in the community. All the sessions have an underlying aim to promote positive mental health.
To help volunteer, I made this page to help cover some costs. Thank you so much for those who have taken the time to read my page. Also, I want to say thank you to those who have donated as any donation is very appreciated and will make a massive difference for funding towards my volunteering.
