My Travel Story

Hi everyone! My name is Phia Ringo and my heart and soul are defined by adventure and learning. My passion in life stems from the communication of stories and spreading of joy and love. I will be living a dream come true when I leave to start my new life of teaching English in Spain on November 20th. This will define the next part of my life as a time of exploring and absorbing all that the world has to offer outside of my wonderful home of Chicago. This will bring all sorts of opportunities for me to contribute anything I can to the education of the world, while ambracing the culture of somewhere as gorgeous as Spain. I am dedicated to this journey because I discovered my incredibly strong connection to English literacy and the way in which it can be communicated through music and art. I hope to be able to utilize this experience to find the same sort of passion in the Spanish language and culture, as well as to expand my horizons of my connection to language in general. 
I was fortunate enough to be able to visit Spain when I was in 8th grade and that trip changed my life. I was able to explore a whole new culture, while also discovering a lot about myself as a 13-year-old. This opened my eyes to how incredibly big and yet simultaneously small the world truly is. There is still so much yet to learn and as a 25-year-old I'm ready to absorb every bit of it. This is not just a trip but a complete lifestyle shift. I will be traveling with the teaching program of Global Work & Travel for 7 months but anticipate being there longer as there is a lot of countries and cultures to discover! In order to make this possible, my funding needs to be solid. While I will be working as an english teacher while I'm there, extra funds are needed to support rent, food, and other everyday expenses. The program itself is $4,000. I will be working as hard and as much as I possibly can before leaving, and saving as much as possible. I have some generous family support and will be mostly covering the trip on my own, so in order to feel just that much more secure, I am asking for the support of my friends and family to make sure my time in Spain is as rewarding as I know it will be. As much or little as you are able to contribute is absolutely appreciated, even if it is so much as a word of encouragement!
