My Travel Story

In summer of 2018 I will be going to Argentina for a Spanish & Counseling Study Abroad program for nine weeks! On this trip, I will be observing and assisting social service workers in real Argentine organizations, learning more than three semesters of college Spanish, and experiencing cultural immersion with an Argentine host.

This experience will further my career in psychology by providing me with skills to help spanish-speaking patients, who are typically very limited to health services. I will be stepping out of my comfort zone and seeing how a third world country's social system operates. Not only will I be learning another language but also understanding their cultural backgrounds, which is very beneficial to helping spanish-speaking patients. I am so excited to dive into their culture and gain counseling field exposure.

This opportunity is something I have always been so passionate about. It will further my ability and education to helping others. Argentina is a great location because of the exposure to mental health and the difference of culture and language. This study abroad program will provide me with the skills and experience that I need in my career to help those who are more limited.
