London Experience - Study Abroad
My Travel Story
I currently am a Senior in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Criminal Justice with a GPA of 3.83 and a projected graduation date of December 2023 at NC State. I know the difference between requirements and electives, but there is also this other category of opportunities that can provide once in a lifetime experiences. This is the junction where I’m at now and requesting your assistance as I embark on this journey. From June 24th – August 20th I am excited at the opportunity to participate in a study abroad internship in London!
I was asked why? Why this international experience? Why study abroad AND internship? My answers…first, I want to experience this global world that we live in and expand my exposure. I believe in the future this will keep me more open-minded to possibilities and the appreciation for how cultures other than my own might approach a situation. Secondly, besides additional course credits, one of my goals will be to apply the educational skills I have acquired in theory to be applied in practice. Ideally increasing my knowledge and competitive advantage as I consider careers after graduation.
While in London I will be staying in a shared flat with an expected 30–60 minute commute, and the course I will be taking is Engineering Economic Analysis. I am still waiting on details for my internship but expect to be with a start-up company, NGO, or independent business which offers smaller environments to provide a more hands-on internship.
Thank you for reading this and appreciate any donation you may make. If you’re not able to support now, please keep me in your thoughts and prayers for peace and protection for this adventure. Life is about making memories!
P.S. I'm posting to Updates as I have more information and adjusting funding. Thanks again for the support and be sure to check back!
