Please help: Antipodeans Vietnam School Expedition Funding
My Travel Story
I have committed to funding $4000 for the trip over the next year, which is half of the expedition cost. My parents will be funding the other half. By working multiple jobs since July 2019, I have earned $1500 so far.
I desperately want to go on this trip to Vietnam as I want to make a lasting impact upon others through the hands-on community project. I will be involved in either renovating classrooms and community kitchens, installing water tanks or building desks and bookshelves for school libraries. 60% of the trip cost includes international return flights, internal flights overseas, meals, accommodation and transport. 20% of the money goes towards safety measures, hiring professional leaders, extensive medical kits and live tracking via GPS. The last 20% of the overall cost goes towards the preparation and research of destinations, the trek, project, community needs and exploration activities. In addition to the individual cost of the trip, our group needs to raise money for the materials required for the community project.
When I was accepted after signing up to this expedition I was in tears thinking about the opportunity I have been given. I am so excited about experiencing new, diverse culture and I desperately want to help others that are struggling in the developing world and give back to a community in need.
I am determined to raise half or more of the cost for this trip, but during my exam period in November I fell behind with my savings goals. I now have a deadline of 13 December 2019 to make a big payment, and even though I am working 3 jobs, I am not going to make the payment in time. I would be forever grateful if for a small donation towards my goal.
