My Travel Story
My name is Alice, I'm 19, and currently, a sophomore in college studying Secondary Language Arts Education and English with a focus on education. Throughout all of my schooling, reading and writing were something I excelled in and enjoy doing. My favorite class, however, was over British literature. I was fascinated by the rich history that was the basis of all my favorites: Canterbury Tales, King Arthur, Beowulf, Macbeth. During this semester, I have the opportunity to take a Shakespeare course where I get to take a deep dive into his writing and to review the different ways his plays have been performed.
From late January 2022 to late June 2022, I will be studying at a university in Brighton. My courses will consist almost entirely be literature-based with a history class as well. The study abroad program I am doing also provides ample field trip opportunities such as Stonehenge, Bath, Oxford, Edinburgh, Paris, London, and Rye. However, I am most looking forward to going to Stratford-Upon-Avon as I get to learn more about Shakespeare in-depth as well as get to see a play at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
After I graduate from my home university, my goal is to teach British Literature, the class that brought out my love for literature again in high school. I hope to be able to use what I learned studying abroad and give future students in-depth and rich lessons.
While I'm at my home university, I work at a library as a student worker, and while I'm home I work at an independent daycare. I really appreciate any and all help you can donate. If you're unable to, I'd really appreciate it if you could share my story. Thank you all so much!
