My Travel Story

My name is Ella and I am a junior at North Carolina State University, studying environmental science with a concentration in tropical conservation ecology and a minor in international studies. Ever since I was a little girl, I have been fascinated by the biodiversity within the Galapagos Islands. Learning about these islands in 8th grade contributed to my devotion to environmental conservation, and ultimately helped me realize what I want to do with my life. When I found out about the USFQ Galapagos program, I knew that no matter what it took, I was going to be a part of this experience. Given this opportunity, I will be perfecting my skills in field work, such as collecting and analyzing data, mastering tropical plant identification, learning how to use geographic information systems, and so much more that will give me the tools I need for a future career in tropical conservation in developing countries. This journey would truly change my life for the better.
