Hello all! My name is Tyler Brown and I am currently a junior at Oklahoma State University. I am studying psychology and child development. I am actively involved on campus, being on two executive boards and more. I currently work at the Family Resource Center with international students, and I absolutely love my job! I get to work with children aged 0-18 and their families on a daily basis. I was very blessed to spend a summer observing and learning play therapy at Tulsa Sunshine Pediatrics where I found my calling. I then knew I wanted to be a therapist for children with a specialization in play therapy. The way play effects children is undeniably positive and I would love to use this dynamic to help children in the future. When I graduate, I would love to be accepted into a competitive master’s program that is child-centered and play therapy focused. My school is offering a study abroad program that grants me the opportunity to engage in play therapy and learn from some of the best clinical child psychologists out there. This trip will help me to learn interactively, gain more experience, gain a cultural and world perspective, and become a more equipped for my future career. I am very passionate about becoming a child therapist and I hope to touch the lives of many children and families. A quote that I love and live by is "I don't want to be famous, I just want my work to be." If I help just one person that would mean the world to me, but I want to help many. As we all know, being in college is very expensive and I would love to go on this study abroad trip, but I am not in the place financially to go without having to save. I am asking for donations in addition to the fundraising I will be doing on my own. Any amount is greatly appreciated and I thank you all for helping me reach my goals and dreams. Thank you!!
