Help A Single Mom Build A Skoolie For Lifelong Travel
My Travel Story
When I first escaped my ex with my children, I had no idea what was in store for us. It was absolute hell for a little while there, just the unknown, the couch-surfing with friends, the feeling that this what it, nothing good would come of this.
Well boy was I wrong. We all tasted a new life of freedom and peace, we put in the work to create a healthier environment and progress through life - just my kids and me. Shortly after we left, I was miraculously blessed with my life long dream of traveling the country. I packed up our entire lives, put it in storage, traded in my car, and we hit the road. We drove about 40,000 miles in just under a year, we went from SoFlo to NorCal and it was the more invigorating experience ever!! Wow, were we lucky.
Only now, since we've been settled and paying rent and I can barely afford to live anymore because the price of everything skyrocketing and I don't have access to government funds, it's just been getting much harder and much more discouraging by the day!
However, my goal for the past few years has really been to just buy a bus from auction and get my hands dirty. I know a lot about home remodeling, interior design, and I know how to travel! I may find help with plumbing and electric though, that I can't do. So what we want to do is turn a school bus into a travel home and continue on our journey and travel the country. Actually I said to myself the other day that I want to make it up to Alberta and Alaska for my 33rd birthday. I have 2 years and 17 days! My kids are so excited to take a bath on a bus!!! I've been hyping them up for this for years! But as life goes on, I find it increasingly more difficult to uphold my promise to them since I have no help from their dad, and no family of my own to call on for help.
I would be forever indebted to the generosity of all of you, but just know that you will absolutely be making dreams come true, not just mine, but those of my children as well, especially my 5 and 3 year old who really want me to somehow weld a slide on the bus so they can have a rooftop deck and a fun way to get down! Haha! Yes! We've thought of everything! I used to make swings also, so we're going to weld a swivel bar sort of thing with a few swings on there for them, make a plexiglass ceiling for stargazing, and of course a full size bath tub for a good soak. They're excited for it one day, but I haven't mentioned it in a while because I don't want to keep making broken promises to them.
This would help in so many ways. Not only would it be an absolute dream come true, but you would be helping give us a sense of stability, something that is our own that nobody can take away, something that will help us navigate through life and do what we love: adventure!! I've also recently been looking at the WWOOF website to find organic farms that allow children so that along our travels, we can stop and work on some organic farms across the country so that my children can learn, and so that we can give back and volunteer our time. I'm a single mom homeschooling my three small children, figuring out life on our own, and having a skoolie would allow us an actual lifetime of travel, you have no idea just how grateful I would be, no idea.
Thank you for your time and your incredible generosity <3
