As an educator, I feel it is my responsibility to continue to learn,  experience new things and challenge myself. One of the opportunities I would like to pursue is the 'Building Bridges Program' developed by the Council of International Programs USA (CIPUSA). CIPUSA offered to subsidize the program fee and will provide a host family living during my stay in the USA. However, there are some other expenses that I need to cover and I cannot afford them on my own. So, through http://fundmytravel.com  I hope to find support to help cover the expenses so that I can join program.

During the ‘Building Bridges Program’, I will participate in a professional training observing, networking, and learning through various activities and projects with other participants from around the world. For example - I will meet school age children and share about “a typical school day” or “how is life” in my country, as well as engage in local cultural and educational activities.  I will also be involved in volunteer activities such as; cooking and serving meals to homeless teens, making arts and crafts with residents of a nursing home, community revitalization, and more. During the program I will live with host families for six weeks. Living in a ‘typical’ American home and engaging with the family during their daily activities will give me a chance to meet new people, learn about life and customs of another country and also to share about my own culture. This will create a greater understanding of each other.

This program will benefit me personally in my career and also will benefit the organization I work for and the communities where I teach. Engaging in local cultural and educational activities will enrich my knowledge on existing differences among people in the world. As a result, my appreciation towards diversity and understanding others will increase. Volunteering is another meaningful activity, as I agree that volunteering is a way for individuals to “make a difference” in local communities and the world.

I believe that the ‘Building Bridges Program’ will be a great cultural exchange and knowledge exchange opportunity.  If you are inspired to help, please donate to the cause.  Thank you!
