My Travel Story

Dear friends, family members and acquaintances from all over the World,

From February 25th to March 4th, I will travel to Granada, Nicaragua, with World Vets, a non-profit organization providing veterinary care to companion animals and livestock in developing countries. http://worldvets.org/overview/

 World Vets has a small surgical facility in Granada, where I will assist in spay and neuter surgeries on dogs and cats from in and around the city. The surgeries we perform will help reduce the dog and cat overpopulation, a major problem in that city, as well as many other large cities in Central America. We also provide veterinary care for horses, cattle, goats and other animals.

I’ve always dreamed to volunteer abroad and I believe that this trip to Nicaragua will have a great impact on the lives of both its animals and people. Adding to the humanitarian side of the trip, this Program is also an incredible opportunity for me to improve my surgical and medical skills, as it provides one-to-one training with experienced veterinarians from all over the World.

Bonjour à tous!

J'irai bientôt passer ma semaine de relâche scolaire, du 25 février au 4 mars, à faire du bénévolat au Nicaragua. Je partirai avec World Vets, une organisation à but non lucratif fournissant des soins vétérinaires aux animaux de compagnie et d'élevage dans les pays en développement.

World Vets possède un Centre Vétérinaire à Grenade, où je passerai 12h à14h par jour, avec d'autres bénévoles et vétérinaires expérimentés, à stériliser et soigner les animaux de la ville et des environs. Les chirurgies que nous effectuons ont un grand impact à l'échelle humaine car elles:

1-Aident à réduire la surpopulation de chiens et chats, qui est un problème majeur dans cette ville
2-Protègent les habitants des risques de contracter des maladies transmises par les animaux

Afin de m'aider à défrayer les coûts reliés à un tel projet,  je fais appel à la générosité de mes amis, de ma famille et du public. Pouvoir mettre mes connaissances et compétentes en médecine vétérinaire au service de la population en besoin grâce à un tel projet est un rêve que je chéris depuis longtemps, et c'est maintenant que ça se passe!

L'argent servira à défrayer les coûts du programme, qui est utilisé pour l'achat de matériel chirurgical vétérinaire, de médicaments, d'hébergements et repas des vétérinaires et bénévoles, ainsi que l'achat de mon billet d'avion, et autres.

P.S. Bien que je pars dans un mois, soit du 25 février au 4 mars, j'extend ma période de financement au-delà de la période de mon voyage, puisque mon inscription à ce projet s'est faite à la dernière minute et que j'espère pouvoir continuer d'amasser des fonds même à mon retour de voyage pour pouvoir rembourser les achats dont j'aurai dû avancer les fonds moi-même.
