Hi guys!

My name is Stephan Gericke and I'm currently a fourth year student at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. I'm studying animal sciences with aquaculture and this year will be my last year as a student. I'm planning on taking a year off from my studies to go and travel to places such as China and Norway to experience how fish farming systems work.

The reason I'm opening this fundraiser is to help me get from South Africa overseas to China, Norway and Australia to get experience and meet new people in the circles of aquaculture. As you all know, our seas are under great threat from humanity and the fish population in our oceans are decreasing each day. In relation to this is that the human population on earth is growing by the minute and good quality food is becoming our most prized commodity.

I've been studying aquaculture for four years and my aim with this expedition is to gather enough information and experience to build and start my own fish producing farm back home in South Africa. I know this is only a tiny step to make up for the loss of sea creatures and lack of food for millions of people, but it is still beter than nothing, and who knows maybe one day this trip will transform into a sustainable fishery that will ensure enough food and also help wild animals recover to their former state of glory.

I ask of you any kind of financial aid to help me reach my dream and to make the world a better place :).
