Hi there! My name is Kylee Rain and I am currently an Honors student studying Criminology at the University of Southern Maine. I have gratefully been given the opportunity to study abroad at Hawaii Pacific University in Oahu next semester. Studying to become a Law Enforcement Officer takes a lot of hard work and dedication, and HPU offers so many interesting classes that my current institution doesn't have including a Crime Scene Investigation class (that I am completely ECSTATIC about being enrolled in) and a Hawaiian Culture class. Also, (and this is the coolest most exciting part) HPU also offers surfing lessons, and takes students on excursions throughout the island!
More than anything, I want to spend my time studying in Hawaii, but all fun comes with a price. Tuition for ONE Semester at HPU is a little less than $20,000. I will receive little financial aid through my school, and will most likely have to take out a hefty personal loan that amounts to over $10,000. I'm really excited to start this new chapter of my life, but the financial anxiety is overwhleming. Reaching my goal would take so much worry off of my shoulders.
I am thrilled to be given an opportunity to further my education through such an amazing program. To study in an environment such as Oahu would mean the world to me. This money would aid me in traveling across the country and would give me a chance of a life time.
