Please keep those rebuilding their lives and homes in mind. All funds beyond this goal will be donated to the cyclone relief effort.

In June, I will be traveling to Mozambique to as a research assistant, studying whale sharks and other megafauna. This internship will provide me with critical tools as I work towards my Ph.D and future research involving our oceans, climate change. This research and conservation internship will be my first experience in the field doing and give me a taste of what I hope to do for the rest of my life. A taste that will certainly leave me hungry for more.

After I graduate from Endicott College with a degree in biology and biotechnology and a honors humanities and psychology double minor, I plan to earn my M.S. degree then pursue a Ph.D. For me, this internship is invaluable as a stepping stone towards actualizing a dream I have had for as long as I can remember.

Since I was a young kid I have loved science and sharks. Giving up plastic straws and patronizing my family for not recycling was always my way of protecting the planet but I have now been presented with an opportunity to take further action. Traveling with this team and learning marine research techniques will be an essential piece in my educational journey.

At school, I run evolutionary biology workshops for elementary students, present lectures at high schools and desire to start research of my own. By seeing first hand the world that I am studying and the nature of the work that I speak so highly of, I hope to gain a new respect for the field and for the animals that I love and I want to protect.
