My Travel Story

Hello! My name is Sharon Kim and my two passions are teaching and traveling. As a high school history teacher, I have decided to pursue an inspiring program that offers my students an opportunity to see the world, and achieve my goals of making learning come alive. For those of you who have had the opportunity to travel, I'm sure you can attest that experiencing new cultures and historical locations is an amazing lens for learning.

Through a tour lead by EF (Education First) Tours called, "WWII and the Western Front", my students will be visiting historical sites such as the site of D-Day, Normandy Beach, major cities, memorials, and museums centered around WWI & WWII in April 2017.

Although this is an educational trip, the students will also be learning and growing as individuals. They will be exposed to new cultures, people and experiences. Many of my students attending this trip have never been farther away than a few hours from home (East Orange, NJ) let alone fly, take a bus, and train all over Europe! These students would have never believed that due to their social/economic circumstances that they would be afforded this opportunity.

Without financial assistance, my students and their families will be paying out of pocket for the entire tuition of this trip. This is a true testament to the level of dedication these families have for their children’s education and should be commended. I am here to help alleviate some of the financial strains for these families. The money raised will be split evenly between all of the students attending towards their tuition. Currently I have 18 enrolled on this trip!
