My Travel Story

Hello! My name is Andrea Green and I teach in Guilford County in North Carolina. I received my Bachelor's from UNC-Greensboro and I received my Master's from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University. I have taugh high school English for the past seven years. Two of my colleagues (@global_minded_teachers) take a group of students on a trip outside of the United States each summer through EF tours. They have taken our students to Italy, Australia, New Zealand, and Costa Rica respectively. 

I am excited to join my colleagues on the 2020 trip to Scotland and Ireland. The trip is 8 days and the price will include my flight, meals, lodging, and all activities.

This trip will be be meaningful for my career because I have taught British Literature for the past seven years. We constantly cover literature from Scotland and Ireland in the curriculum. This trip will allow me to provide a depth of knowledge to my literature students that can not be found in our Elements of Literature textbook. I will be able to say that I have first-hand experience of visiting two countries that we regularly discuss in our classes. 

I believe that this trip will also help me serve as a role model to my students. If I have the opportunity to travel to Scotland and Ireland, I will be able to show them the power of travelling and interacting with people of other cultures. Most people leave the United States for vacations. However, I can show my students the benefits of travelling, getting out of our comfort zones, and becoming more self-aware.
