My Travel Story

by: Anne Tinglin Start Date: May 31, 2024 - End Date: Sep 30, 2024
Over my 60+ years, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting more than a dozen countries, mostly related to work, but even then, I embraced and enjoyed the wonder of new sights, new people, new food, new cultures, new ideas, new meaningful projects… I am really grateful for those experiences – they were truly mind-expanding experiences!

Now, as a senior facing financially challenging times, my travel ambitions are much more…modest. Now, I just want to be able to get around independently in my jeep to do mundane stuff like going to the grocery store or the pharmacy, or taking a drive to the beach, and traveling every now and then to the city! And that’s why I’m here launching this small campaign.

As I’ve grown older and lost friends and seen others reduced by ill-health, I am grateful that I can still live pain-free and independently. But I can’t really get on with the small adventures of ordinary living because my driver’s license, vehicle insurance and other documents for my vehicle have expired, and renewing them costs more than I can now afford on my much-reduced income. Driving without these is a really foolish risk I feel compelled to take every week just to get my groceries and supplements, and gas for the vehicle. I try to do all that on a Sunday when the roads are empty and police less present, but I don’t venture out beyond that as I risk another(!!) fine for out-dated documents and risk having my license suspended.

So, help an old girl get her freedom back!! Support my campaign to raise $675 to renew my driver’s license and car insurance and other paperwork, and pay outstanding fines – so I can enjoy the small freedom of an open road to the nearby beach or a trip to the city a hundred miles away; or, at least, so I can drive around my rural area without fear of a blue and white vehicle with flashing lights pulling me over.

The fact is, I live alone in a rural area and my vehicle is the only lifeline I have to get some things done, and handle any emergencies, so, adventures aside, I really need to get this done. This is what meaningful travel is for me right now.

I really appreciate your support! Thank you so very much!
