My Travel Story

Hi! My name is Katy Hahn and this summer I will be traveling to Cartagena, Colombia to volunteer through a foundation dedicated to serving communities all across the globe. International Volunteer Headquarters (IVHQ) offers an outstanding Childcare program which aims to ease the workload for local workers who fight everyday to help the children there to enjoy life to the fullest. I will be volunteering my time by working in daycares, assisting the full-time employees, and bringing my full attention to a foundation for children with cancer. These children need people who are willing to laugh, learn, and be there for them.


When I return from my trip, I will be entering my first year of college at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where I will be pursuing a degree in Child Psychology and a minor in Spanish. I cannot imagine a more perfect hands-on experience to prepare me for my future. For four weeks, I will be fully immersed in the Spanish language while working directly with children who are in desperate need of attention.


Donating to my trip would greatly assist me in affording the essentials: lodging, travel, and food. As a high school student, I’m maintaining high honors while balancing a job where I work 20 hours per week, saving everything I can to be able to travel safely to Cartagena. I can’t begin to express how much contributing will help, but every cent will bring me closer to reaching my goal of $2,500, changing this dream into reality. This is an experience that will not only change my life, but it will change the lives of the children I’ll be working with daily. Thank you, sincerely, for your generosity.

Receiving any donations directly to me I slowly am lowering my goal through fundmytravel & I am so excited to keep getting closer!
