Studying abroad has always been a goal and dream of mine. Hearing about classmates' and friends’ experiences studying abroad made me want to do the same because it sounded so fun and interesting. I had so many places and cities I wanted to go to and see, but in the end, I decided to go with Paris, France. Paris is a known city for fashion, arts, cafes, and of course the Eiffel Tower. Since young, I’ve been interested in fashion and recently completed an internship at a luxury brand which piqued my interest in fashion and clothing.

France is home to many well-known fashion companies, including Louis Vuitton, Claudie Pierlot, Hermes, etc. Fashion is a very competitive industry, which is what drove me away from it. However, interning at a fashion company taught me that I couldn’t reach any of my goals by giving up simply because it's competitive, and  I have to keep going in order to achieve my goals and dreams. This experience pulled me back into the fashion world and being able to study abroad in one of the major cities of fashion, would lead to many new opportunities and experiences.

Being in another country will allow me to step outside of my comfort zone and will be beneficial to me in so many ways in the future. For example, I would be able to learn how to complete tasks independently and learn about different cultures. Going abroad alone is a daunting experience, but I hope to overcome it by utilizing my social and communication skills to meet people, ask questions, solve problems, and navigate my way around. I am able to easily make friends, and I hope that I will be able to do the same in school in a different country where there are students from all over the world.

I am academically prepared to be a successful scholar abroad because I have great organization and prioritizing skills. I was able to plan out my college courses for each semester and anything I had to change, I would be able to do so without any problems. Going abroad, I hope to learn how to adapt to a different environment without being stressed out and overwhelmed.

I have faced some academic difficulties such as failing exams due to poor study habits and submitting work late due to procrastination. By dedicating half an hour to an hour every day to studying with mini breaks in between every topic or two, I was able to overcome my poor study habits. I am overcoming my procrastination by dividing the amount of work I have. For example, if I am given an assignment that needs to be finished in a week, I’ll divide the workload into five days. Before submitting anything, I’ll usually have a day or two to revise it to make sure it's the best it can be. By overcoming these academic difficulties I was able to improve my exam scores and complete my assignments before the due date or on time.
