My Travel Story

Growing up surrounded by music, I developed an affinity for the arts. From the local  church’s Christmas musicals to the elementary school’s choir, I learned exactly how music could impact the lives of those who crossed its path. As I grew into a clearer understanding of myself, I realized that I wanted to pursue education as well. I still remember when this wide-eyed third grader learned that there was a way to pursue both music as well as education.Taking this direction, I decided that I wanted to move towards my own journey in music education. In seventh grade, I created a business to teach my classmates guitar, piano, and voice. Although I was hesitant, I was able to see how music boosted their confidence one person at a time. Day-by-day, I taught them that they were capable of overcoming anything, from a difficult measure to a tedious scale. It didn’t take me long to realize that there was no greater joy than seeing the precious smiles on an accomplished student’s face. This love for teaching music has developed as I’ve grown, but there is still a massive area for growth, and this program would grant me the foundation and launching pad for growth through the medium of music in a unique culture. Ultimately, my purpose and goal, for this program and in life, is to impact others with the passion of music that I’ve gained and further enrich my heart for humanity through the lens that music education provides.
