Hi everyone!

Few of you know about my plans for this year. Well, let me tell you what I've been a brewin'. It started with a desire for something new. I needed change! I spent a good portion of 2016 bettering myself as a person, working on my mental health and happiness trying to pinpoint just what it is that I am looking for. I have figured it out! I would like to teach English abroad.

Since coming back to the states in 2011, I have missed the vibrant culture and easygoing way of life that was in the Philippines. I looked back on many fond memories of being thrown into a culture that I knew little about, despite being half Filipino. It was challenging and at times extremely frustrating being 14, trying to make friends, get to know my family, learn the language, and on top of that be a teenager (gross.) However, the time I spent in the Philippines was one of the most influencial times in my life to date. It shaped a lot of who I am today, and gave birth to what I now know to be an extreme fondness and fascination for culture, language and communication. So I'm going to do it all again, friends! This time, I'll get paid to do it. ;)

Currently working on getting my TEFL certification and volunteering at Hilltop Elementary School for experience. I plan to teach in Phnom Pehn, Cambodia.

I have been working hard to pay off my debts (PAID :D ), and am now in saving mode. I have been able to save a fair amount this year already, and will continue saving until I leave. I anticipate having enough money for what I NEED. I thought that maybe asking for a little help to add to my EMERGENCY fund wouldn't hurt anyone so here I am.

Any contributions will go towards any surprises that may come up during my move. For example, if, for whatever reason, my first checks from the school I will be working at are late (though uncommon, I have heard it happens.) Also, any extra fees that may come up while travelling (Visa, boarder fees, etc.) Things happen, and it is always nice to have a reserve of money just in case. :)

Thank you all!
Special thanks to my former 6th grade language arts teacher, Ms. Pender, for helping me get things started.
