Medical Volunteer for Aspiring PA Student
My Travel Story
My name is Katie Christanson, a little bit about me: I am born and raised in Washington, and I attended Whitworth University for my undergraduate degree in Health Science, I currently work as a medical assistant. I have wanted to be in the medical field since I was a little girl, and I found my passion in it when my grandmother became ill and a Providence nurse took excellent care of her until the moment she succumbed to her heart disease, and I knew I wanted be apart of taking care of others the way that nurse took care of my great grandmother, not specifically as a nurse, but as a physician assistant (PA). A medical mission trip is not a required part of my journey to become a PA, but I want to do something to give back to the community, and use the medical skills I have thus far, to give back to the people in the Guatemalan community, but to also have this experience grow me as an individual in the service of others. I chose this specific location because of how underserved it is, but also because of my hispanic background. My goal is currently $1500 dollars, which covers the $470 program fee, a $329 dollar registration fee, and airfare/transportation. If you are able to help me financially in anyway at all, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for investing in me, I cant wait to make an impact in Guatemala, thanks to you.
With all love,
Katie
