Supporting Women's Education in Morocco
My Travel Story
I was first introduced to French in high school and I gradually fell in love with the language. In my second year of French classes, I met a gal from Cameroon who had recently moved to Utah with her family. Their native language was French and I soon discovered my passion for learning the language enabled me to connect with people from a drastically different culture than my own.
In college, I met "Mama Africa," a native of the Congo. She was recovering from a stroke and beginning to establish her Congolese food stand when I discovered she needed a volunteer. As I worked with her, I came to love the vibrance of African culture and became more appreciative of the challenges faced by stroke survivors. This experience became a defining moment in my life when I realized I wished to create a career where French, Africa, and medicine intersected.
Currently, I am pursuing this aspiration as a medical assistant, preparing to further my education in medicine. A service trip to Morocco would complement this preparation by helping me develop the skills needed to care for diverse patient populations. Aside from the purpose I have identified in this trip, I couldn't be more excited to travel across the globe and experience the Moroccan way of life.
Any donations or support for this journey would be deeply appreciated. Thank you!
