My Travel Story

For all of my adult life, I have wanted to volunteer abroad and I have wanted to be bilingual.  So far, my path has not taken me in that direction.  I have instead become involved in volunteering in my communities.  I currently assist mentally ill patients with their efforts to be released from state hospitals.

I recently became aware of an opportunity to volunteer abroad through IVHQ.  They have a progrram in Barcelona Spain that will give me the oportunity to dive the local coastal reef counting wildlife and removing trash, all while continuing to learn the Spanish language.  I have been accepted into their two -week program; however travel and program costs are over $5,000.00, including mandatory insurance, room, board, and flights.  I will be traveling with my sister, Candy Howerton, so we are both looking for financial assistance to pursue our mutual dreams of volunteering abroad.  If you are looking for a way to contribute to preserving our world's greatest resource, the ocean and its wildlife, please consider contributing to our journey.  Thank you!
