My Travel Story

I've always been fascinated by the ocean. The truth is that doing something meaningful and helpful for the ocean, has been my dream since I began high school. It all started with a small obsession with sea turtles. I couldn't get over how beautiful and kind they seemed. Following this realization, I made it my life's goal to help them and conserve their future. When I graduated high school, my plan was to go to Colorado State University and then two years later go to school in Hawaii to ultimately get my degree in marine biology. Once I started school at Colorado State, I fell in love with it and knew that two years would not be enough time in the gorgeous city of Fort Collins so I made a new plan. My new plan was to get my undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at CSU and then go to graduate school for marine biology. Now that I have my degree, I am wanting something to kickstart my career and education in marine biology. I feel that this internship is the perfect way for me to get the field experience that I need.

This experience will be the first step of many in my marine biology career. Participating in this internship will launch me into my future of marine conservation and consequently changing the world for the better. Getting involved with marine conservation through GVI will fuel me with the starting knowledge I need in order to be prepared for a career in marine biology. I will also be gaining the competitive edge that I need in order to apply for graduate schools that offer my degree. When applying for graduate schools I want something that will set me apart from other applicants and I believe that this internship will make me more qualified.

The ocean takes up the majority of our world, so that is the place where we can do the most good when attempting to make a difference. Taking steps to understand, not only coral reefs, but all different forms of life should be an important life lesson for earth's entire population. This is why I would like to be a part of the Fiji marine conservation internship with GVI. I believe that I will walk away with a life changing experience that I will never forget; not only will I have the time of my life but I will be changing the world for the better while doing it. Please help me achieve my life goal, anything helps. If you can't donate right now another thing that helps is if you share this page:) Thank you all very much!
