My Travel Story

by: Carly Baysinger Start Date: May 10, 2021 - End Date: May 9, 2022
Hi everyone!

My name is Carly and I am 21 years old. I study Spanish at Texas A&M University, and plan on getting my TEFL certificate to teach English abroad in Santiago, Chile when I graduate next May. I plan on moving there after graduation. I studied abroad in Chile for 5 weeks in summer 2019 and immediately fell in love with the country, the people, and the nature. I think about the excitement of being able to move there every day!
Ever since I had begun to learn Spanish a few years ago, it has been my dream to live in a Spanish speaking country, and Chile is the perfect future home for me. I have found myseld in educational positions, from Spanish tutoring at my university, to assisting English classes virtually in Alicante, Spain. These truly sparked my interest in teaching and solidified that it is the career for me! I have seen how language and education can open doors and change lives, so the idea of that being my career is a dream come true!
Including air fare and startup fees, my dream experience is unfortunately not cheap, but it will be rewarding. I am a full time student and also working for my university, selling clothes and doing Spanish tutoring on the side in order to save up for my future. I am extremely passionate about teaching, traveling, and Spanish language, as they have brought me the most fulfillment and joy in life. I will finish TEFL certification in July 2021 and the International TEFL Academy will help me set up a job before my arrival in 2022.
This fundraiser serves to help cover start up fees and to ensure living costs are covered, as I plan to stay for a minimum of a year, as well as Visa fees. Any support means the world to me!

Thank you so much!
