My Travel Story

by: Stephanie Sheppard Start Date: Jul 4, 2016 - End Date: Jan 3, 2017
My name is Stephanie Sheppard, and my best friends name is Maddy, since we were little our hearts have been filled with wanderlust and our souls have been meant for exploring, although I haven’t had the chance to leave Canada yet. Most importantly, we have created the biggest spot in our hearts for animals. The compassion and love we hold for animals cannot be described in words; we only want to express it through our actions. Thailand has always been a dream of ours, there is so much beauty, but terrible things happen everywhere you go, hearing about this program and learning how we could be a part of a positive change their warmed our hearts. I guess it doesn’t matter where we do a program like this, but it just so happened to be in our dream destination which makes me us the more determined. Were definitely the types of people that have to change the channel when those commercials come on about animals being abused. I know physically being there seeing it firsthand will be extremely hard for us, but I do also know that if we got the chance to see the darkness/sadness change to lightness/happiness in a puppies eyes, it would make everything so worth it. Despite this desire we have to see the world in a positive way, we unfortunately haven’t been able to due to the lack of funds. I’ve never been good at saving, and when I do have a decent amount saved, I always feel the need to help my family out first, especially since were all struggling in the aspect of life at the moment, I’m sure were not the only family. The way I talk about travelling, you would believe I have seen the world, but in reality it’s just this beautiful perspective I have created while daydreaming about it. We look at travelling in a cultural point of view, when visiting a different place across the globe, we feel as if we would want to live the way the locals do, and gain that full experience of what it’s like for them even if it’s just for a portion of the trip. We feel events like that are what really shape you as a person. Anyways, what we’re trying to say is we have never reached out quite this far before, or gained the courage too in that matter, but it would mean more then absolutely anything in the world to us to be able to a part of an experience something this powerful and positive. Thank you so so much from the very bottom of our hearts to those who share our same compassions and are willing to contribute to making this happen for us. <3
